A consultation is an opportunity to ask your questions and learn more about the process and what to expect from the journey. We’ll determine if Invisalign is the right fit for your budget and goals, or if another orthodontics treatment would be more beneficial for your teeth.
The Roadmap to Smile Success
After deciding that Invisalign is the best course of action to correct your bite and align your teeth, we’ll scan your teeth to create a detailed 3D image. The 3D image will be sent off to a lab to design your custom aligners.
Your aligners will be sent to our office once they’re ready and your dentist will call you to schedule an appointment for a fitting.
Scheduling an Aligner Fitting
Your dentist will first examine the aligners to ensure the quality is as it should be. They can then fit them onto your teeth and see if any adjustments need to be made. Trimming around the gum line may be needed to increase your comfort.
At this time, we’ll go over wear and care instructions.
Following Up to Monitor Progress
Every 6–8 weeks we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure your teeth are shifting properly and give you your next set of aligners to wear. When switching aligners, you may notice your teeth become more sensitive due to the change in pressure. This is expected from any orthodontics treatment and should dissipate within a few days.
Caring for Your Aligners
Taking care of your aligners is essential to the progress of your treatment and maintaining good oral health. Protect your teeth from unnecessary bacteria by:
- Removing your aligners when you eat or drink anything other than water
- Place your aligners in their protective case when they’re not in your mouth
- Gently brush your aligners with a soft toothbrush
- Rinse food particles out of your mouth before putting your aligners in
